EMPOWER

Equip Young Leaders
Youth are the center of our mission and work. Every year we hire youth from the city and suburbs to participate in our program. Our model brings them together using the common ground of food and farming to work across race, class, gender and all manner of differences.

FOOD ACCESS

Grow & Distribute Fresh, Healthy, Affordable Food
We farm and distribute that food in the community. Our produce is sold through affordable farmers’ markets that accept state and federal food subsidies and donated through a network of community partners.

COMMUNITY

Inspire & Support Others
We seek to create powerful change that is rooted in community. We work to uplift the assets of the community, help remove barriers, and support the priorities established in partnership with residents, community groups, other nonprofits, local government, and local businesses.

During their 6-week program, youth work with staff to grow vegetables and distribute thousands of pounds of produce, while developing leadership, teamwork, workplace, and civic participation skills. After working on the farm each morning, Seed Crew spends most afternoons in workshops learning about sustainable agriculture, food access, social justice, and more.
